Common Question Concerning Acupuncture Is acupuncture safe? Acupuncture when performed by a trained health profession is extremely safe and when done correctly has virtually no side effects. I only use stile, surgical grade, stainless steel, disposable needles. The chance of infection or harm is extremely low. Will it hurt? The truth is everyone feels differently. Our perception is subjective, but generally acupuncture does not hurt. Many times the needles do not register at all. So when it comes to it most people are frightened because of our experience with getting a needle at the doctor's office and when they have acupuncture they don't even know when the needle goes in. The needles I use are so small that 40 of my needle would fit into the average syringe the doctor uses to give people their flu shot. Does it work? Evidence is mounting that yes indeed acupuncture is an effective tool to treat many conditions and in the case of headache and migraines the evidence is strong. |
