There are many different kinds of headaches: tension headache, migraine headache, cluster headache, sinus headache and chronic headache. They occur in women twice as much as in men. Tension headaches are the most common and account for 75% of all headaches.
It is not uncommon for a Headache to last from 30 minutes to 7 days. They vary from the infrequent episodic annoyance, to the persistent severe and sometimes disabling chronic medical condition. In the vast majority of cases a headache though painful is not a sign of a serious underlying illness. The brain itself is insensitive to pain. Rather it is the surrounding muscles, blood vessels and tissues layering the brain where the pain originates. |
